Help the Elyria Kiwanis Club create a community of red, white and blue!  Join others on your street to honor our country with a parade of flags in all of our neighborhoods.

Your Elyria Kiwanis Club, assisted by local boy scouts and youth groups, will place a 3' x 5' flag in your front yard for five (5) holidays per year.  The flags will then be promptly collected and stored.  A temporary support will be installed in your front yard to hold the flagstaff.  The City of Elyria has approved the flag to be placed on "tree lawns" where available.  The flag and staff will remain the property of the Elyria Kiwanis Club.

All profits will support community efforts like the Elyria High School Building Project's Courtyard and Performing Arts Buildings as well as other local programs like Dial-A-Story and Safety Town.  Local boy scouts and youth groups will receive $1.00 each time a flag is installed in your yard.  For $25.00 per calendar year, the Elyria Kiwanis club will provide and install the flag, properly store it, and arrange to have the flag picked up for the five holidays listed below:

Memorial Day, Flag Day (June 14), Independence Day (July 4), Patriot Dat (September 11) and Veteran's Day (November 11).

History of Kiwanis International

The first Kiwanis club was organized in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. on January 21, 1915 as a men's service organization.  A year later, the Kiwanis club of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada was chartered.  Kiwanis International grew rapidly into a leading service club in these two founding nations. At this time, it had 5300 clubs and 270,000 members. In 1962 worldwide expansion was approved and in 1963 the first European club was established in Vienna, Austria. At the 1987 International Convention, membership was opened to women.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.  Through local clubs, such as the Elyria Kiwanis Club, we serve the community with an emphasis towards helping children through our Dial-a-Story, Book Report Programs, and Safety Town.  Over the years, the Elyria Kiwanis Club has contributed towards a variety of community projects and is excited to be helping with the construction of the new Elyria High School.
